As player of The Division, there seems to be a lot of conversation about weapons.

But, as a player that is geared towards Firearms, what would you say is the 'better' primary weapon? Currently, I'm using a PP-19, others say the LVO (something) is better. So, I'm still new to this, so don't hit me too hard ;)

In 1.4 the Hungry Hog (M60 named weapon) is the best on paper with belt fed LMGs coming in second.

For me, I run with a LVOA-C with destructive and am geared for enemy armour damage as enemy armour usually equates to 2/3 of their toughness.  I then swap between a SCAR variant Marksman (ie the SCAR-? / MK17 / Mk20), the MP5-ST, a M249 LMG and the SASG Shotgun depending if it is long or close range in the next mission.

The PP-19 is highly regarded with good talents although crit hit was nerfed big time.  The large mag on it is really good.  The LVD is also pretty stable with a decent rate of fire.

Generally I go for the best weapon for my build and playstyle regardless of what the community says :1_grinning: .  For the best impact, something that matches your overall build is likely to have a bigger impact.

Beware though as 1.5 will change a lot, especially with enemy armour damage bonuses and a new Gear Score tier.

Ah, so much to it. Thanks for the reply.I'm more of a PvE player; no Dark Zome stuff. And my 'builds' are geared towards Firearms. Currently using the PP-19 and for a moment this evening I tried the LVO, and was getting peppered during a team mission. I switched back to my PP 19, and it felt so much better. Less recoil than the LVO, too.

If you like the LVOA-C but want something more stable, look for a tactical MK16.  I run both of those on my 1st toon, with then MK16 as my primary and the LVOA-C as my secondary.  I really only still carry the LVOA-C because of the talents to stack on my MK16 (my 1st toon runs 4x AB).

For SMGs, I'm partial to the PP-19 for the sheer amount of ammo and the MP5-ST for the accuracy.  The same toon carries both of these (as well as an AUG for 3 different talents).

When it comes to shottys, I'm a fan of the M870.  It hits like a Mack truck, but it's a single load pump shotty so reload can be slow.  When I ran a tri-shotty build, I paired the M870 with a "sausage" (SASG-12) for the semi-auto firepower.

My top 2 LMGs are the M60, which is a belt-fed beast that great for flinging lots of lead (especially when equipped with explosive or flame rounds) and the L86 which is basically an AR on steroids.

I don't typically use DMRs, but my 3rd (lvl 19) toon had a paratrooper SVD and it's beast.  I've got about 150 rounds when maxed and it's great for long range and can be hip fired like a semi-auto rifle.  Very versatile, lots of damage, and it sounds great when you pull the trigger.

Last night I tried the LVOA - C, in PvE. I was AWFUL! The recoil on the LVOA-C, even with the stability I added, and other stuff, was terrible. I even practiced on the wall outside of Base of Operations. A while back I'd tried the Tactical, I'll look into that one again. Thanks for the tip...

Back on my Black Market and PP - 19, I was quite comfortable at shooting and hitting targets. Albeit, I still need to do better at quick aiming though.

With the LVOA-C, if you want accurate longer range fire then bursts are the best bet.  If they are up close then you can empty the mag and probably hit most the time.  This is a cover shooter so pop-up, burst, cover is what the designers were probably pushing for.  Of course, with a lot of the content, a well geared player or team does not need to take cover so much now and move tactically.  I did the UN mission today on hard (part of the dailies) with a team of 4 and may as well of just walked to the end as they just breezed through it.  No real tactics, just wlk fire, skills, heal all the way to the end.

If you are not so hot on the LVOA-C, the FAMAS in 1.5 may also not be for you.  It has a faster fire rate and has a base +damage bonus talent that decreases the more stability and accuracy mods you add to it.  On the PTS it was +15% damage but if you add a mod with +11% stability you then go down to only +4% damage bonus.  It really is a beast though.  IIRC it was 850RPM vs the M4 variants 800 rpm.  With Rate of Fire mods you can get up to close to 1k rpm (like you can with the MP7) but stability really suffers if you lock the trigger on full auto.

The Tac-16 I tried was also pretty good but got the LVOA-C on the first mission I tried with it and have a fair bit of experience with it so switched over.  The Tac-16 is still in my Stash though.

AlphaBridge four piece with G-36 Enhanced primary and LVOA-C secondary for when they get close as its RoF is UNREAL! I can empty a 65 round magazine in seconds but accuracy suffers so I keep it for emergencies.

I do this but with the Tach MK16, since I haven't gotten a good G36. Also, mine are 204s because I can't seem to get any 1/2 way decent 229 ARs to drop.

And on the LVOA-C, it's basically a SMGs on roids with better range.  That's why I agree with @quinch1199 that's it's fantastic for CQB - a little slowe ROF but it packs more of a punch (than SMG).

My G36 is geared to strip armour at an alarming rate which means the raw output of the LVOA-C I have melts faces of unarmoured opponents. Drawback is that its almost impossible to land more than 6 rounds on target at anything further than 10ft away! LOL! That said my G36 has all the stability and I can literally snipe with it.

I was wrong, I sold my Tac-16 and it has taken a while to find a new one.  I also got a couple of G36s so have been playing with both.

For the Tac-16, it is pretty stable but accuracy is fairly low.  You can see this by the fact that the gun does not wander much when firing but the reticle expands quite fast and the bullet placement in the reticle is all over the place.  Accuracy mods should help a lot with that I would guess.

For the G36 it is pretty accurate and the reticle takes longer to expand but it moves around faster so needs to be modded for stability more.

I am currently running with the G36 and MP7 (soon to be buffed in 1.5) or M60 as a secondary.  I am still keeping hold of the LVOA-C though.

Yeah, the LVOA-C dances all over, but it's a great item to swap over to for in your face beat downs.

My Black Market (can't remember the number) is putting out 100 rounds +10 (not sure what the plus 10 is), and I have a quick release clip, too. Seriously I love this thing now. I'm able to play online with others, and feel confident I'm actually helping the team! LOL

My second weapon is still my PP - 19, and for up close and personal, it really helps out. Actually, I only use it if I'm in a fire fight, and wasn't paying attention to the ammo on my Black Market; thus I quickly switch, if I need to.
