Named NPC's guaranteed to drop HE loot in v1.1

I absolutely hate this change they are making.

From now on killing a named NPC will grant you a guaranteed High-End drop! That’s right, you will now always get a High-End item from killing a named NPC of level 30+.

The gear score of said High-End will be determined by the level of the NPC. For example, a level 30 named will guarantee a gear score 163 High-End. With so much more High-End drops, you’ll quickly notice that crafting High-End items, while more expensive, will not necessarily be much more complicated. To make sure that crafting remains a viable alternative, we will also increase drop rates of Division Tech materials to 40% on level 32 named enemies in the Dark Zone.

New drop tables have been designed to grant you just enough control to focus your efforts on specific NPCs, depending on your need. Each named NPC will now have more chances to grant a specific type of High-End item. By discovering the specificities of each named NPC, you will quickly learn which ones you should focus on in order to obtain specific items.
I would be all for them increasing the frequency of loot drops, but giving a guaranteed drop for named NPC's is a bit ridiculous. They are so easy to farm.

Sorry, I was working on a damage calculation thesis when you posted this, and didn't see it until after I saw/commented in the other :(

It seems they are bowing down after announcing the crafting change. Which honestly, will help it balance out.

ok, thats fine, but they better even that out with making these bosses extremely hard to kill with a ton of mobs around them.  if they dont, it will be no time for the the majority of the player base to get every single HE drop.

Yep but turn the DZ into the OK Corral at spawn points. Lol
thats true but also extraction points. now there will be an extremely high chance that anyone that is going to extract something will have a HE item on them. you thought people camping extraction zones before was bad..its going to be 10 times worse now, so if too many people are camping spawn points, they will just camp extraction points as well.  on top of that, throw in supply drops and the DZ will be like Normandy on D-Day HAHA...

So to confirm let's say I run the library in the dz with some friends and we take down Boomerang (sniper boss) and he drops a high end weapon. Does that mean now that whenever Boomerang is killed he will always drop a HE weapon?

not necessarily a high end weapon, its what ever the dev's made his loot table to be. but he will drop a High end item every time he gets killed

If they separate named DZ spawns from challenge mode bosses as far as loot tables are concerned, then they could only have a subset of the available HE items. If they don't, any droppable HE item could be gained from killing any named elite.

To be honest, I'm not even sure how the loot tables work now. If anyone knows, I'd love that info.

this is what they sent out yesterday:

Ok, so it sounds like the entire loot table is available through any named npc, but each individual will have higher chances to drop specific types...I'm assuming weapon mods, gear mods, weapons, or gear. Sounds good to me.

yes, each boss will drop a specific High end item. just have to figure out which boss drops what item you are looking for and keep killing that one boss till you get it

i dont know, i think its a huge mistake to do what they are doing. its suppose to take a very long time to acquire these end game items...not mere days.  People will just farm these bosses nonstop and get every high end item in the game in no time.. its hard enough now to find a boss that someone hasnt already killed ahead of us. they are going to be damn near nonexistent now lol

so, what you guys are getting at is that i can run through general assembly and get a HE for each boss?

or is this just for DZ?

I'm assuming the loot tables will be same as before, certain items are specific drops in the DZ and specific items are open world/mission drops

I almost agree with you on that, but then I remember that a really good 4 man group can farm 120 phoenix credits an hour in challenge runs, and a dedicated player can farm mats just as fast if not faster.

Reminds me of that guy who posted confirming the cap of Phoenix Credits. 1k
